In the sport of golf, aligning the putting stance parallel to the putter/stroke and target line is a natural benefit that instills putting confidence.
The eyes are “THE WINDOW”, to the outside golf world and environment where the physical body, exists, functions and plays golf in.
Your eyes perform the most valued and significant function in all aspects of sports and golf.
The eyes take in the golf course environment and your brain processes this information, setting it to memory to assist in creating a feel for distance, controlling direction and speed. This information ranges from 3D images, to linear or curved geometry that influence physical alignment of the body, swing path of the hands and putter.
These geometric images the eyes view is processed by the brain and is used to create a feel for the slope, speed and angle of a green.
This information is retained mentally and will externally control the direction your stroke/hand/putter will follow to find and hit the target line.
The putting stance and stroke rely on this information, executing a putting stroke without committing to this information would be like putting in the dark,, where are my hands/putter, where is the line and hole?
When you set the body in awkward positions at skewed angles that do not fit
your natural genetic alignment and posture, your eyes visually sense this
misalignment, your posture/stance feel awkward and tense.
This skewed misaligned putting stance creates physical tension and resistance that is acknowledged by the brain, you either correct, readjust or you chose to ignore.
Ignoring information the eyes and body have picked up on sends a message to the brain, “it does not feel right, back away and start over”, spilled milk, too late!
Relying on the eyes is a natural phenomenon that you and all golfers take for granted because rolling a golf ball physically is viewed from an infants mentality and not approached and executed with natural or athletic timing and rhythm.
Rolling a golf ball along a defined path that is covered with shaved grass, does not require brute force, just the commitment and precision of a masterful/skilled surgeon.
When you are left with a 4-6 foot putt to the flag for a birdie opportunity, palms start to sweat, hands quiver nervously as the body and lungs grasp for air.
The stance you set and method you follow to line up your body to make and sink a birdie is done with mental uncertainty and physical inconsistency, self doubt anyone?
Sinking any putt or a birdie/eagle putt is the ultimate goal in golf and logic plays a very big part in sinking a putt.
Why? would you deliberately line up the lower torso to one angle, shoulders and eyes to another, expecting the putter to start and remain on a straight line?
Putting gurus set you up for failure by instructing you to open up the stance for a better view of the hole, creating a skewed putting visual, putting line and forced putting execution.
From all my putting experiences and visual observations, you do not putt with the eyes, body, shoulders, right arm and hand control the putting stroke and putter face.
An unnatural/misaligned and skewed putting stance controls the path, direction, your hand/putter will follow, putting all birdie opportunities at risk.
Set up per their instructions, lower torso and legs aligned to one angle, offline from the target, line up the shoulders, hands and putter to another angle towards the target line and ball.
From this open and skewed/misaligned setup you view the line and hole from the corner of the left eye and register straight.
The brain and body are lying to the eyes and agreeing, by doing so, body is dominating and in control,
Set the putting stroke into motion, if your concentration is less than wondering, what do you think will happen from this misaligned and skewed execution?
Hand/putting stroke will struggle to remain online naturally, backwards or forwards, once putter arrives at the ball it realigns to the stance.
The hands get involved and take over, YIPS! The stroke/putter will attempt to follow the lower torso/s alignment, you will either push or pull and decelerate the putter creating side spin and will not release on line.
exit stage right or left, “ain’t nuttin”, eyes can do, but watch!
Even a 4-6 foot putt, is now a struggle, missing a 3-5 foot putt will now follow you around for the rest of your golfing life, in this context, “I have seen you putt before”,
no more GIMMEYS!

This is now your putting reality, you have failed the true, logical and natural putting test,
now you must come to terms with the reality that you cannot make a 4-5 foot putt, self doubt, anyone? call home and have the wife or girlfriend hide the dog and
cat. Had you taken a logical approach, remained natural, aligned from head to toe and parallel to the putting line, stroke/putter remain square and online without hand manipulation releasing naturally, this tragic outcome would not have scarred you for the rest of your golfing life.
To set and align your stance without a caddie, slip the Hawkeye On Line Putting stance aligner over the grip, pull up on the alignment rods, set rods 90 degrees perpendicular to putter face and parallel to alignment line on top of putter head.
Set your normal putting stance, do not set stance or feet to horizontal alignment rods, looking down move the grip/stance aligner rods towards the toes to CHECK misalignment.
Depending on which foot is misaligned, reset by placing toes equal distance to rods, square up whole body/ shoulders parallel maintaining arm/hand natural swing path.
Your body remains natural, relax your knees, push down on both horizontal alignment rods while gripping putter.
Regrip putter with a light right hand, focus on right hand, take putter/right palm back square to a set distance.
Maintain a square right palm to golf ball and putting line, accelerate the putter and control timing, rhythm with the right hand.
